If you move around a lot or you don’t want to mess with cables the STAR MICRONICS TSP654IIBI may be want you want.
Nothing in the world couldn’t work out any better than this product. Prints super fast! FYI, don’t expect to have the POS/esc commands in the manual because it tells you that it’s not open to the public but not like google can’t fix that.

You don’t need to screw around with the extra settings, just turn on the cash drawer before/After print and be done. Hi @McNabbGames — I went ahead and combined your thread with another seller’s who had a similar question. I can assure you that we’re always looking into more affordable hardware options for our sellers. As for the technical explanation, from my limited understanding (I’m not an engineer), each printer manufacturer has a specific driver for their hardware, and since manufacturers don’t build printer drivers for Square Register, we would have to build one for each printer model – which is something we don’t have the bandwidth to do.

As the most popular receipt printer style on the market, direct thermal receipt printers offer a combination of speed and easy operation ideal for most retailers. Direct thermal printing uses heat to activate an emulsion in special heat-sensitive receipt paper, eliminating the need for additional media when printing. These printers are remarkably fast, with top print speeds at over one foot of receipt per second.
Impact receipt printers are some of the longest running on the market. Similar to the older tractor-feed style printers of the 1980s, these printers use a series of small pins to press and transfer ink from a ribbon onto receipts. Many impact receipt printers can print up to two colors using special two-tone ribbons, making them a smart choice for businesses where order changes need to be stark and apparent.
Below are a lot more interesting web sites.
But my point is that an adding machine paper-receipt looks unprofessional in some businesses. An inexpensive ink jet or better, a multitasking network office printer that is already in use would make a LOT more sense for me. I’m sure they are robust and work fine, they just don’t suit my business and I don’t like being so limited in the TYPE of printer I can use.

Just click the Transaction and the Receipt will preview on the right-hand side. At the bottom, you’ll see the receipt number (ex: Receipt #H8R5). Click that and it will show you the digital version of the receipt. From there you’re good to print on the standard 8×11 printer paper.
Really solid receipt printer. Less expensive than 90% of the machines in its class, but it holds its own without an issue. Installation was slightly more involved than other reviewers had let on (it helps to know which port you’re connecting this through), but overall it was still pretty simple to get working. Just make sure that you don’t have an old version of the Epson receipt print driver on your computer, as this can cause the installation to fail.
There are many ways to connect a receipt printer to your POS computer, including USB, Serial, Parallel, and even networked via Ethernet. Depending on your POS software, some of these interfaces will work better than others for connecting your receipt printer. The diagram below has images on the major interfaces available and what they look like both on the back of a POS computer as well as the receipt printer.
This is one of the more common receipt printers used with Square Payments. It generally costs less than $200. It come in white and black color. It has an auto-cutter to slice receipt paper for you. It uses thermal paper so you never never need to fill it with ink. It is generally easy to maintain and add paper when you need it. So this is a printer that works well in a wide variety of environments. However, if you are in a kitchen or some area where the air is moist you may want to get an impact printer as thermal paper does not work well in moist environments where there is little ventilation. Here is the user manual for the Star Micronics SM-S230i.

I had a issue with the printer not turning on due to a malfunctioning square pos stand from square up. I spent about 3 hours on it , I called the customer service and a nice guy was able to guide me thru. It turns out the iPad air needed a software update to a iOS 11 beta 2 in order to work and connect. He helped me out on the products I didn’t even buy from him. He even directed me to a link to exchange my square pos stand. If you ever had to work squareup customer service you would know how lengthy and tedious it can get. He was able to help me bypass a lot of the complication and the product I brought was just the cash drawer and printer and it was in great and working condition. After I got my iPad air updated and pos stand exchanged everything connected and works perfectly now! This saves me over a thousand dollars!! I am so happy with my result I reorder another one from them!

You can add your logo and text to your receipt. This is done with software that is included with the receipt printer. By adding your logo to your receipts you have a place to advertise your business. You can also put your phone number on your receipt or your website URL. This is a good thing to do if you’re selling at a craft show, fair, farmers market and etc. The customer may not remember your name and may not go online to search for your website. But if you put your website on the receipt you have a better chance of the customers visiting your website to make a purchase.

Anyone within the business that uses Square (whether they use Android or iOS) should be able to print to that same printer. This avoids everyone having to purchase separate printers.
