If its a usb Star printer like ours, the answer is simple, the Square hub & cables suck. We’ve already replace ours once under warantee and currently are operating without our printer being active 98% of the time. If we can be bothered to unplug all the USB connections from the hub and unplug/plug the hub power back in, things will probably work for a while, but the bottomline is the cables/hub are poor and probably are shorting.

@MaseyLeigh – The entire stand system can draw up to 24W from a power supply, so you’d want to make sure that your portable charger could accommodate that. As for if the Square Stand needs power to operate, it will require some power to maintain the connection with the Square Contactless and Chip Card Reader when you have it plugged in through the dock. It will also keep the reader charged. It might be hard to test this out outside of the actual event, but if you do get in a pickle, you could always pair your reader to a smartphone to stay in business that day.
So let me get this straight; after I email/text the customer the receipt I should then email it to myself and then print it from my email (after formatting if I like)? Can’t I just print from the app without buying a special credit card printer? Guess not…

Relaunch square and see if it works. May want to restart your iPad too. If that doesn’t work. open up notes and see if you can print a note to the printer. If you don’t see the printer there is a network or printer issue. Reset your network and see if that fixes it.

I spent years in jobs that included lots of cash handling. This cash drawer is the nicest I’ve seen. It’s solid build will last for years and its finish is just lovely. It triggers cleanly and the drawer all but shoots out when triggered. I’m very pleased.

Finally, two other issues fall loosely under the heading of quality: ruggedness and lifetime. Don’t expect much in the way of ruggedness for fine art papers for exhibition, but you do need it for stacks of 4-by-6s that you might hand out for people to look through. Photos from most printers today are reasonably waterproof and scratch resistant, but some fare better than others.

I’ve purchased several of these at various times for use with Square POS systems, haven’t had any problem with any of them. Our owner was very happy that it’s able to print our graphic logo on the receipts.
Paper used (10,000 receipts printed on 80 x 300 mm each [3 inches by 11 inches], this is a conservative estimate to account for consumer copies of receipts that occur with credit card transactions) = 240,000,000 sq mm = 2,580 square feet of paper
We really like the Apple MFi certification with the auto connect feature. We also like the small footprint of this receipt printer. Overall this is one easy and fast printer to setup. The Apple MFi makes it real easy. You just turn the printer on within range of your iPad.

I’ve escalated a request to our documentation team that includes your idea for a table listing out the printer options and whether they’re USB/Ethernet/Bluetooth/etc. New versions of printers do come out now and then, so it’s possible we have an incorrect link in our Support Center. The team will look into it though and make sure to get it updated. Appreciate your feedback and hopefully, your call to our Support Team will help you get everything sorted out.
Started out problematic. Used with Square stand, had issues with connectivity, paper cutting, and printing gibberish. Updated printer- couldn’t tell any difference. BUT then Square had an update and it has since worked very well. Matches the Square stand which apparently is a big deal with my spouse and customers like it too.
