We have our TM-m10 connected via USB into the Square POS hub and it shows as connected within our printer station. Unfortunately though, when we print something that has text within the “Custom Text” or “Refund Policy” fields we get a string of random characters (see photo below).
(example: blinking power light, blinking error light)  We may need to contact you for more information or to walk you through a solution. Please choose the “Submit” button to send the form to the Technical Support Team, or choose the “Reset” button to CLEAR the form and begin again.
I don’t know if any other card processing services have a stand with a card reader built in, but in order to use Square, you need to use their hardware. There are different basic stands for other devices that you would use with the Square reader of your choice.

It’s been about three years since I excepted credit cards. The last device I used was pogo through provident bank. Which did not work out at all. The Device made an error and it was fixed but I lost $700 in the process due to processing fees but they refused to refund me. The problem is there’s too many hands involved and they have you on the phone going in circles. The evil leader being First Data they just kept eating money out of my account and I was helpless and could not stop it. So This left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. But after working for a few years I started to lose customers because I did not except credit card so I decided if square a chance. And I started taking credit cards. I have processed roughly $11,000 in three days for deposits on jobs and some payments. I was watching my account getting ready for to be deposited. After three days nothing. Did not realize that square tried to contact me because of the large amount of transactions and they put a hold on my account. I thought to myself here we go again. They requested a list of documents and proof of identity. I thought it would take weeks for them to process it. By 12 o’clock the next day they processed it and released the funds. That impressed me. And ever since it has been great. Money is quick about 12-24 hours. So give them a shot. They deserve it.
Of course @TopJimmy! I’ve just started a case for you with our Support team and I’ve shared your messages describing the issue as well. A member of our Support team will review everything and reach out to you by email either with additional troubleshooting steps, or they’ll let you know that we’re escalating this to engineers to investigate.

Sorry to hear about the trouble with your Star Micronics printers, @FrankHBC. Please give these printer troubleshooting tips a run-through as they usually resolve any issues right away. If those don’t help, please let our Support Team know — they’ll take a closer look.

If its a usb Star printer like ours, the answer is simple, the Square hub & cables suck. We’ve already replace ours once under warantee and currently are operating without our printer being active 98% of the time. If we can be bothered to unplug all the USB connections from the hub and unplug/plug the hub power back in, things will probably work for a while, but the bottomline is the cables/hub are poor and probably are shorting.

To answer your question about the Epson TM-T88IV, this printer has not been tested yet so we cannot guarantee compatibility. I’ve let the hardware team know you’d like to use this printer. If it is is supported in future I’ll update this thread and the printer will be added to this list of supported hardware for iPads. The printers in that article are the ones we know to be compatible when using Square on an iPad!
why is the mPOP having some many issues with PayPal? so slow, sometimes will take printer offline, everything is so messed up so often, it’s useless! yet it is supposed to be compatible! I have a iPad and am using PayPal Here. it’s too sporadicly working to be useful. Am I doing something wrong? please help.
You mentioned you’re running the latest version of the Point of Sale app but you haven’t mentioned what device you’re using. Bluetooth printers can only be used with iPads running on the latest version of Apple’s iOS. If you have an Android device you’ll use a supported ethernet and USB printer.

Hey @Helen and anyone else reading this forum with the same problem! I wanted to mention that calling support provided the solution! Apparentely just updating the Point of Sale app was not enough, and I had to simply delete and reinstall it instead. Essentially just “turn it off and turn it on again” for the app era 🙂

The lightweight SM-S220i is built to handle the stress and bumps of day-to-day use. A belt-clip secures the printer to you or your employees, minimizing the risk of drops. However, the 9-ounce printer can withstand 4-foot drops, so it should hold up to accidents with few issues. A 1-year warranty is standard on the printer, making the Star SM-S220i a smart and reliable mobile printing option.
It can be placed on a counter and can support a monitor, receipt printer, or other point-of-sale device (sold separately). Mounting brackets (sold separately) allow the cash drawer to be mounted under a counter to save space. The cash drawer is tested to withstand at least 1 million operations.
So in the scheme of “would we buy these printers?” it comes down to would we buy these instead of other Epson printers? I would probably recommend the T20II the most out of all the printers, I think for the price and features and warranty, the T20II is your best bet. If you are worried about space though, take a look at the M series, especially the M10, it’s very very small compared to older receipt printers. The styling on both of these are better than the T20II. If you’re looking for just pure performance, pure reliability, pure speed, the T88V is still your best bet. So that’s kind of the Epson overview of all their printers. Good printers, probably at this time not their best printers, but they are space saving options, and there are some unique pairing capabilities, so if you’re on a tablet or something like that and you don’t have a USB port, then take a look and see if a proper interface is available for you. To purchase these printers, or for more information, please visit us at POSGuys.com. Thanks!
No. The Square Stand, like the Square reader, is only compatible with the Square Register app, which in turn is only compatible with Square’s payment processing service. All or nothing. The encryption only works with Square’s system.
