Generally speaking, the Star printers will just show TSP100 on the front of the actual printer but those are the model numbers; it is kind of confusing. Feel free to share a link or two to the printers you’re viewing, I’d be happy to confirm.
@SSmobile @Kevin7 – I went ahead and moved both of your comments over to the thread where we are tracking this feature request. I totally understand your frustration and desire for Epson support. They make a mean printer that is also a fraction of the cost of most Star printers. I have personally passed this feedback along to our product team, and expanding compatibility is something that is top of mind for them. I’ll update this thread if/when this functionality is added in the future!

I bought this printer in September, it’s now May and it’s broken. I wouldn’t suggest. We’re not a super busy business, we print maybe 15 receipts a day just to sign credit cards. We don’t print receipts for clients we email them. And it’s broken beyond repair.
AirPrint support is pre-installed on iOS devices, so you can use this familiar interface to connect to and begin printing from the new printer. The TSP654II features a fast, 300 mm per second print speed, high-quality 203 dpi print, compact footprint and aesthetic design. Faster print speeds at the Apple point of sale will help shave a few seconds off each transaction, which means less waiting and more efficient customer service.

NOT FOR USE WITH SQUARE STAND! If using a Square Stand consider the Square Stand Starter kit which has a printer that plugs into the stand. The printer in this kit must be plugged into your router.
The SM-T300i portable mobile Bluetooth thermal receipt printer is approved by Apple, Inc. through MFi certification for use with the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad. In addition to its ability to pair with iOS, Android and other popular mobile platforms, the SM-T300i has easy drop in & print paper loading, a reliable and quick print speed of 75mm per second, and an intuitive LCD display. Dust protected and splash-proof resistant (IP54Certified), the SM-T300i is rugged enough for outside field workers requiring handhelds to seamlessly print from a mobile device to a durable portable mobile receipt printer. The SM-T300i also allows for restaurant servers and clerks working in demanding retail and hospitality environments to print standard three inch format receipts wherever they need to. Its rugged and splash proof design combined with standard three inch receipt printing and a long battery life make the SM-T300i a welcomed option.
With fast printing – up to 300mm per second – this is a great printer to have if your sick and tired of receipt printers that take all afternoon to print a bill for two items. And with a four year warranty, you can bet that this one will stand up to whatever rigours you put it through.
I guess if you took the thing apart and installed a new reader compatible with a different processing service… But with that level of time and expense you’re better off fabricating a new stand from scratch.

Regarding the printers, several of our Square customers have had to return their TSP100iii bluetooth printers due to compatibility issues. Star’s TSP654II Bluetooth model is the best choice. They make a model specifically designed for either iOS or Windows/Android systems. Here is a link with information and the specific model numbers for each: http://www.posshopper.com/star-tsp654ii-bti-thermal-receipt-printer.html

Android systems have the option of using USB devices or Ethernet (LAN) devices, but with some limitation. Direct connecton to a USB device requires an OTG (On-The-Go) adaptor and may limit you to only one connected device. Another option is to use Ethernet (LAN) or Bluetooth connected printer and a cash drawer that connects to your printer. First see if your Android device is supported by Square, then carefully follow the list of supported hardware for Android devices.
Thanks to the Star “Keep Alive” feature, the TSP134LAN can negotiate with any networked host and automatically print an error if the connection is lost due to computer/hub failure or cable damage. It also sends an immediate warning to the remote location that the printer is offline. “Real Time Status” alerts let know you when the printer’s cover is open or when it runs out of paper. And because of the TSP134LAN’s connectivity, any Mac or iPad on the network can see the printer’s status.
If you have an Android smartphone, you can also tap the phone on top of the printer to quickly launch the app. But I still had to manually connect the printer to my phone each time by going into the WiFi network list.

If you want a great little device that you can just put in your pocket and is compatible with Android devices, this one is a great option to look into. In addition to being able to connect via Bluetooth, you can also use it with USB connections for even more functionality – but be warned that it doesn’t work with iOS devices and it’s unclear if it’ll work with a Mac either.
The Square stand is very durable and to my surprise heavier than it looks. The swivel mount is built into the bottom of the device and conceals the power cord. This cord is connected to a 3 port USB module that will allow users to connect up to three separate POS devices in addition to connections with wireless LAN POS devices like receipt and label printers. Although not official, the Square stand can hold an iPad Air 2 pretty perfectly. I would suggest placing a small foam dot or so, just so that it is seamless to the stands edges. All in all, this is a great start-up POS system and highly customizable to any operation. I would recommend this product to any small business.
Finally, two other issues fall loosely under the heading of quality: ruggedness and lifetime. Don’t expect much in the way of ruggedness for fine art papers for exhibition, but you do need it for stacks of 4-by-6s that you might hand out for people to look through. Photos from most printers today are reasonably waterproof and scratch resistant, but some fare better than others.

Don’t worry too much about speed. For photos, quality matters more, and even the slowest printers today offer tolerable print speeds, at about 2 minutes for a 4-by-6 on our tests. Keep in mind too that measured speeds are typically slower than claimed speeds, and (as we note in our reviews where applicable) the speed for any given printer may vary depending on the source you’re printing from.
We have our TM-m10 connected via USB into the Square POS hub and it shows as connected within our printer station. Unfortunately though, when we print something that has text within the “Custom Text” or “Refund Policy” fields we get a string of random characters (see photo below).
SM-S230i includes the ability to print receipts or data from a web browser-based application running on a mobile device wirelessly by configuring Star’s WebPRNT Browser. Once configured, the user simply pairs their mobile device to the SM-S230i, open the application on WebPRNT Browser and prints from the application.
Paper used (10,000 receipts printed on 80 x 300 mm each [3 inches by 11 inches], this is a conservative estimate to account for consumer copies of receipts that occur with credit card transactions) = 240,000,000 sq mm = 2,580 square feet of paper
★★★★★ “Thank you so much, it really helped me a lot, though I have encountered errors but I definitely pulled it out. Thank you very much, after two weeks of working on my project finding the best sqlite tutorial, this is the best so far, two weeks of searching and almost losing hope, but when i found this site it gives back hope to keep on going w/ my school project. Thank you very much sir!”
Your POS supports USB, and in the @Kpay’s original message there is even mention of a few USB interface printers. However your “Supported Hardware for iPads” document only breaks down printers between “Ethernet” and “Bluetooth” interfaces and only contains a single mention of “USB” for the “Vasario Cash Drawer”.
We’ve used the Square POS system and most receiver email receipts. But any smart phone is also a Square POS… And those “remote” registers can also Bluetooth pair with this device and print. Wow. Plug it in anywhere.
