I was already aware that your system is only compatible with a subset of printer models and so I purchased one of your own recommended models, as claimed in the original post above “Epson TM-m10, this model supports both USB and Ethernet”.
I have e-mailed support twice since last Wednesday (rec’d no response to either message) and spent over an hour on the phone with support yesterday and nothing was resolved.   Next step is to stop using Square altogether, as we are a busy bar and asking customers to sign the iPad during peak service does not work in a busy setting.  We were about to start switching over the ten other businesses we own to Square, but obviously are no longer considering that. In short, Square sucks.

The printer is compact, prints clearly, and has absolutely no issue when printing a receipt for my Square sales. The fact that it is blue tooth meant I could put it anywhere in my home office that was convenient and not tied down by the length of a USB cord otherwise. I have it linked up to an old iPhone 4s phone and run credit cards using Square and print receipts easily. I’m so pleased that I paid some more money and got the blue tooth version.

Square is not interested in using anyone but Star. And their attitude is that they frankly don’t care. I know, I have emails from them about it. If I was to guess, I would bet they have a deal with Star that funds their (insert pizza parties, to silk pockets). But lets be realistic. I mean it has to be something viable, right? The fact that Star uses the same print protocals that Epson uses has no bearing on an Epson receipt printer not working. It goes in the same line as Android devices can’t use bluetooth devices… although that new chip reader is bluetooth. It is a lack of customer service and they need to step up to the plate, or someone is going to come along and take their business away from them.
I’m trying to setup Square with my TM-U220, I can get it to do a test print, and when I open up the printer settings in Square it gives me the option to enable “Order Tickets,” but it says the “Receipts, Bills, Reports, Open Cash Drawers” and “Order Ticket Stubs” are “Not Supported.”
I bought a Square Stand and contactless chip reader to use at craft shows and other events that don’t always have access to electricity. I understand that the stand can draw power from my iPad, but I don’t know if that will last for an 8 hour show. Has anyone used the stand without it being plugged in? How long did it last?
Virtual Serial Port to USB   Use a USB connection with old software. Create a Virtual Serial Port to support older applications that only communicate via serial. This tool will convert serial commands to USB, which the TSP100 understands
The following hardware accessories are compatible with Square Stand POS equipment. All hardware listed under Supported Hardware for the Square Register App is also compatible with Square Stand, but will not connect to the stand via USB.

Many other credit card processors are accused of the same thing. After all, merchants are susceptible to credit card fraud, and payment processors are generally a cautious bunch. However, as DeSimone pointed out in his review of PayPal Here, the company does seem to be a bit cautious about withholding funds and freezing accounts. Other mobile card processors, like Square, have also been accused of being overly vigilant.

I have a “Jump Start” power supply from Schumaker. It will not provide power for a full day show. I use the stand and the chip reader “Dock” and see as much as 19 watts power being pulled. Portable Power supplies are out there to do this job but, very pricy. Best to start with IPad and chip reader charged to 100% and plug into the power supply when it gets below 15-20%. You could let your Ipad “sleep” after 5/10 minutes but remember Square will have to reconnect each time.

Hi again @TopJimmy! Our engineers confirmed that some sellers have successfully used the Epson TM-T88V with Square after following these configuration steps for the printer. If you still have that printer these steps should help you to get it up and running with Square.
The printer is fine but bluetooth connectivity has been an incredible challenge. We have probably wasted 20 hours wrestling with it in the few weeks we have had it. The Starprint utility can say it is not connected when it is … and vice versa. The Bluetooth says it is not connected yet we can print a receipt from the register. The delay communicating via bluetooth means we have to leave a key in teh till drawer rather than wait for it to eventually open even though we have adjusted the utility and timing. So, while the printer is fine, don’t go bluetooth because you can’t use a cable even if you want to as there’s no socket …. just bluetooth ! So, buy a cable printer version and be happier !
USB receipt printers are commonly used. They will save you a few dollars. USB printers connect to Android devices via a USB OTG (On-The-Go) adaptor. Make sure your device supports USB OTG or USB Host mode.
I have also tried connecting the printer as a local printer since a lot of fixes said to try this, but these end up with an error at the end of the installation i get an error that I don’t have access to do this.  I am using an administrator account.
If you look at the two images above, you can see that the app is trying to connect to the printer. I saw this message quite often and found the connection between my phone and the printer to be very fiddly.
The Square Stand is only available for iPads but there are tons of third party mounts and stands that can be used with the Android devices and the Square Register App will absolutely work with your Galaxy 6.
★★★★★ “This just saved me so much time that I will drink a beer for your sake, and I would pay you one if I’d have the chance. Thank you so much for your work, and for sharing it, keep going with your awesome job!”
The STAR MICRONICS TSP654IIBI is fast and easy to configure. It is Apple MFi certified. It has auto connect and so it will connect to your iPad automatically. If you want to setup your receipt printer fast, this may be one of the best options. There is no serial cable, ethernet cable or USB connection. That seems like a positive benefit. If you move around a lot or you don’t want to mess with cables the STAR MICRONICS TSP654IIBI may be want you want.

Impact printers are typically the most affordable and are suited to damp environments like a kitchen but they’re a bit slower than other models. Thermal printers are fast and quiet but require toner to function, and inkjet printers are fast and give high quality prints but are generally the most expensive.

Overall, seems to be a decent printer to use with an iPad-based point of sale system. However, after about 3 weeks, the printer stopped cutting the receipts & went into an error mode that the owner’s manual said was “non-recoverable”. I contacted Star Micronics customer service & shipped to their repair facility. They got it back to me within 3-4 days & everything was covered under the warranty, minus the cost to ship the printer to them. So far, it seems to be working as expected since I got it back from being repaired. Perhaps I just got a bad one that came off the assembly line & somehow managed to slip through quality control.
I like this printer very much, but only give it 4 stars because I had to search around for information on operating the printer and finding paper. That is a very small negative and likely due in part to my lack of industry knowledge. But, I do think a manual in the package would be nice or at least a link to the information on the web. A case for the printer would also be nice, but I just grabbed something I had laying around.
