I have a friend who runs a small shop and knew the Esky ES-CD01 Heavy Duty RJ-12 Key-Lock Cash Drawer would be perfect for his application. This drawer was a massive upgrade to the system he had been using. He had tried other drawers with different connections and designs, however this one was really the best.

Compatibility with applications and programs are dependent on the software and application developer.  Typically, with windows programs, if you can specify a windows printer and the software uses the matching emulation, then a Bluetooth receipt printer will work just as well as a USB printer.  For iOS and Android applications, it is a bit more complex and you will need to check with your app developer to determine app compatibility.  In many apps rather than selecting an installed printer it will be looking for a specific Bluetooth device, if your printer is not that exact match then it will not recognize the printer as being available for that software.

We bought this thermal printer for work. It works well as described, but there are some programs that don’t use the printer, and setting up the printer is less than intuitive/easy for the average user. I had to go into advanced settings and follow advice on forums to get it to function the right way.
Beyond successful software installations — and mysterious failings “printer not available” after initially printing the test page or failing to print after several hours of successful hours of operation, there’s the interesting phenomenon of an attempted install on a couple of machines in which after selecting the ‘easy install’ or appropriate options under the standard install, and then clicking ‘install’ — nothing happens. Click again. Nothing happens: no messaging, no installation, nothing. I find this inexplicable and suspect that most software/driver developers — with the evident exception of Epson — wouldn’t allow a feature this flawed into release.
If the IP address is in use, you will receive a response of the form “Reply from 192.168.1.192: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64." The numbers in this message may vary. If you receive a response in this format, repeat this step, increasing the final number by one each time (i.e. 192, 193, 194, etc.). When the response includes the text "timed out" or "Destination host unreachable," the IP address is most likely open. Take note of this open IP address. This product worked well the first 4 weeks with the Square POS and the past few days the printer has not been printing continuously. The iPad states, "Printer Error" and the printer must be shut off and paper drawer opened up and turned back on again. There are NO returns on this item through Amazon so buyers please be aware. I am in the process of working directly with Star Micronics. Hi @JoanneCFYF — thanks for bringing this up and sorry to hear about the frustration this is causing. It looks like another seller had the same question, and received an answer. Check out this thread by Kelly. Hope that helps for now. I bought this to work with my Lightspeed POS system. I checked the list of systems it would not work with and it was not on there. I inserted the so called "Installation Disk" and it was just a handful of random pictures. There was a girl in a field and some flowers. There were no other instructions. When I plugged it in ,y laptop starting installing it, it showed up on my printers but as a local usb and when I would try to print from it, it would not show up on the printers list. I tried to call the actual company that makes the printers and unless you use their POS system they will not help you. I have tried several printer to try to get them to work and it has been a nightmare. I would not suggest buying this printer unless you are using the revel systems POS. Highest marks on the TSP100III because of the multi-platform adoption and performance. This printer works with Windows, does Star and Epson emulations (set in driver), but the ethernet version is the most commonly used printer with iOS point of sale applications (Star, Shopkeep, Aldelo Touch). Along with it's 10+ ips print speed it is a great overall printer that will fit most point of sale printing needs. EOM-POS Thermal Receipt Printer- USB, Ethernet, Serial Ports- Auto Cut - Cash Drawer Port (RJ11/RJ12)- Paper Width 3 1/8" (80mm) - NOT COMPATIBLE with Mac, Square, Shopkeep, Clover, Shopify, or Paypal You can reset the UB-E03, UB-E04 Ethernet Interface card to factory defaults by holding down the push button on the card (see arrow above) while turning on the printer power and continuing to hold it down for 5 seconds. Have not purchased this printer, but wanted to let people know that this is not the only printer that will work with Square. I have two Star Micronics printers, one Ethernet and one Bluetooth and both work fine with the Square app for iPad. I also have Ethernet based cash drawers that connect through the printers and those works just as well. This probably has the easiest set up, but it is not the only way. Acts as a regular printer, you install it, and print whatever you want to it and it automatically scales it down to the margin on the printer paper and done deal(No need to go around playing with settings) NOTE: CHROME STILL LIKES TO USE 2 MILES OF THE PAPER SO I DONT KNOW ABOUT CHROME AS MY POS FRONT END. I USE FIREFOX OR OPERA) The price is right but the result is even better! they are reliable and they get the job done. I was going to buy some other ones in the $400 price tag, I think these work just as well, if not better. I love them! [otp_overlay] [redirect url='http://merchantaccount-blog.com/bump' sec='5']
