The power supplies are cheap chinese knockoffs. I bought two printers. When I plugged in the printers they both gave a low voltage error. I replaced the cheap power supplies with Epson power supplies and that solved the problem. The seller refused to send replacement power supplies or compensate me for the cost of the new power supplies.
Very easy setup once you find the pairing button in the lower back of the unit. I am using this printer as a kitchen printer linked to my wait staff’s iPad POS using Square Card OS. Works like a charm and only has a 2-3 seconds delay for Bluetooth printing.
Spent over an hour with the manufacturers help line but could not get to work with the UPS software. The issue was the barcode lines were not smooth enough to be read by a barcode scanner. Finally rented a unit from UPS by the month. Going to still try this unit for USPS shipping labels. Will say the person on the help line made a valiant effort trying to fix the issue though.

Trust me, if you’re here shopping for a new business and need a printer, you need a thermal receipt printer. Don’t use a regular laser or inkjet printer unless necessary for your situation. It’s awkward, slow, and wastes more resources.

Started out problematic. Used with Square stand, had issues with connectivity, paper cutting, and printing gibberish. Updated printer- couldn’t tell any difference. BUT then Square had an update and it has since worked very well. Matches the Square stand which apparently is a big deal with my spouse and customers like it too.

It came very quickly and works great. The quality is awesome. These printers (we have purchased others over the years) last a long time. I have not had one single problem with them in the 7 years we have been buying these printers for our library. The receipt spits out faster than you can blink. I would definitely recommend this printer and the reseller.

Overall, seems to be a decent printer to use with an iPad-based point of sale system. However, after about 3 weeks, the printer stopped cutting the receipts & went into an error mode that the owner’s manual said was “non-recoverable”. I contacted Star Micronics customer service & shipped to their repair facility. They got it back to me within 3-4 days & everything was covered under the warranty, minus the cost to ship the printer to them. So far, it seems to be working as expected since I got it back from being repaired. Perhaps I just got a bad one that came off the assembly line & somehow managed to slip through quality control.
These printer works seamlessly with our square stand. I was able to take out of the box, install and set it up in under 10 minutes. We do on occasion see some issues with the paper jamming but I believe that is due to the type of paper we purchased.

We first bought the Wifi model and couldn’t get the manufacturer or Square to figure out how to make the two communicate, even though it’s supposed to be supported. We were told to return that and switch to this blue tooth model. Now this one won’t communicate with Square either. It’s the only receipt printer that Square publishes it supports. We don’t have any odd setup, all brand new peripheral equipment, new iPad, Square stand/Register. Hours on support with both and no resolution to date.

This was good – arrived in fine condition – however the description said everything was included in the box, including interface cable (which can only mean the usb cable since that’s the only other cable beyond the power cable necessary – and that is also mentioned in the description)… BUT there was definitely no USB cable included in the package. So, will need to purchase one for this to work. Which I would have done when I placed this order, but was under the impression everything was included.
At the end of the installation it will ask you if you would like to search and pair the device. Start the search, select the available Bluetooth printer and click the ‘Connect’ option. iPad-based POS (Point of Sale) systems have become increasingly popular. In addition to saving money on upfront costs, these systems have streamlined operations in the modern merchant and Square Register is quickly becoming one of the most convenient and coolest ways for small businesses to process transactions. Tablet and smartphone based systems are also being increasingly used for inventory control – from the retail floor to the warehouse – and by sales personnel assisting customers in-store and on the convention floor. The hardware options for Square Stand differ from those below. For Square Stand hardware options, or to learn how to set up hardware with Square Stand, click here: here.
But my point is that an adding machine paper-receipt looks unprofessional in some businesses.  An inexpensive ink jet or better, a multitasking network office printer that is already in use would make a LOT more sense for me.  I’m sure they are robust and work fine, they just don’t suit my business and I don’t like being so limited in the TYPE of printer I can use.
EOM-POS Thermal Receipt Printer- USB, Ethernet, Serial Ports- Auto Cut – Cash Drawer Port (RJ11/RJ12)- Paper Width 3 1/8″ (80mm) – NOT COMPATIBLE with Mac, Square, Shopkeep, Clover, Shopify, or Paypal
Had 3 of these in my place to on cash draws one in the kitchen they work well as long as there is no internet/WiFi drop off. Using it with couple IPad Airs and Square register app for several years. When I loose internet or sometimes they seem to disconnect from the register even when I don’t have internet problems and they usually have to powered off and on. Also in the mean time my cash draw wont open and I have to find the key. Being so annoyed I with connection issues I have since replaced them with the USB versions (except the kitchen one) and all my problems stopped.
The new Square Contactless and Chip Reader is included so you can accept every way your customers want to pay. Place the reader in the dock, connect the dock to the USB hub, and you’re ready for business. Accept magstripe cards, chip cards, and NFC payments like Apple Pay.

I am sure that this has been asked and answered, but the search feature on this communities site is not very robust and the information I’ve been able to gather from square/communities is not entirely clear. So I am asking again (maybe).
Another nice touch is that they include a CD which allows you to customize the printer (add logos, sync with POS systems, custom data to add once the receipt is printed, etc). Keep in mind though, this customization works with certain POS systems, not all. On Square, I can’t tell the printer to print out all of the extra stuff since the POS for Square is very simplified.

It is a simple process all I can think is that square gets a percentage of royalties from their supported printer sales and thats why they are locking everything down to these ridiculously overpriced pieces of equipment.

Great product and great company to work with. I at first ordered the TSP143U which is a USB Printer to work with a Tablet to set up a POS system at my business. Once I got it, I realized that if I had the printer plugged into the tablet there was no additional port to then charge the tablet. I contacted the company and they gladly accepted my return and let me reorder this LAN Printer. I highly recommend this vendor and their product.
Just click the Transaction and the Receipt will preview on the right-hand side. At the bottom, you’ll see the receipt number (ex: Receipt #H8R5). Click that and it will show you the digital version of the receipt. From there you’re good to print on the standard 8×11 printer paper.
The Star Micronics SM-S230i is light weight at only 7.7 ounces. It is small and easy to carry around. If you’re someone who sell at a farmers market, craft fair or some other place where mobility is very important, the Star Micronics SM-S230i may be what you need. It uses thermal paper and connects to your iPhone, iPad with bluetooth or USB. Here is the user manual for the Star Micronics SM-S230i.
Edit to say that the network issues I mentioned were tied to the wireless router we were using. Replaced that piece and the printer started working great. I still recommend purchasing as a package for better price and customer service, but not a bad piece of equipment.

The STAR MICRONICS SM-T300I is also a light weight receipt printer. But it’s very durable and rugged. It’s also Apple MFi certified for iOS phone and iPads. It also works with Android and Windows. It’s been tested to take a little bit of beating and is used by people who are outside a lot. Having said that the price is higher than other printers. If you need something rugged, this device may be the one for you. But if you don’t. You will want to look at something else as this device can get expensive. The SM-T300i is easy to use. There is a well written and very detailed user manual. The user manual gives details on how to configure the receipt printer and how to load paper. Here is a link to the Star Micronics SM-T300i User Manual.

This is one of the more common receipt printers used with Square Payments. It generally costs less than $200. It come in white and black color. It has an auto-cutter to slice receipt paper for you. It uses thermal paper so you never never need to fill it with ink. It is generally easy to maintain and add paper when you need it. So this is a printer that works well in a wide variety of environments. However, if you are in a kitchen or some area where the air is moist you may want to get an impact printer as thermal paper does not work well in moist environments where there is little ventilation. Here is the user manual for the Star Micronics SM-S230i.

The printer that Square supports is one of the largest used brands in the receipt printer market.  They are not getting kickbacks on printers as the printers are sold by hundreds of places including Amazon, and the buyer doesn’t know you are buying it to print with Square as the printer is also used by 100s of other POS systems. More printer options would always be better, but as this is one of the industry standard printers it only makes sense they support it.

The STAR MICRONICS TSP654IIBI is fast and easy to configure. It is Apple MFi certified. It has auto connect and so it will connect to your iPad automatically. If you want to setup your receipt printer fast, this may be one of the best options. There is no serial cable, ethernet cable or USB connection. That seems like a positive benefit. If you move around a lot or you don’t want to mess with cables the STAR MICRONICS TSP654IIBI may be want you want.
Please note, these printers can only be used with iOS devices at this time. I don’t have a timeline for when they’ll be supported with Android devices yet. But I’ll report back when I have an update! 😀
We really like the Apple MFi certification with the auto connect feature. We also like the small footprint of this receipt printer. Overall this is one easy and fast printer to setup. The Apple MFi makes it real easy. You just turn the printer on within range of your iPad.
You can use any of our Square Compatible Receipt Printers with the Square Stand Hardware, this setup has the most options to choose from. It just depends how you want to connect to the Square Stand and how many stations you have. If you are connecting straight to the Square Stand via the USB hub, or with Bluetooth we offer the following Thermal Printers for printing Credit Card Receipts :

First and foremost, a little background info: I own my own business and have been using the Square Register POS system for over four years. I have a different kit, but they’re all similar products. When my friends decided to open their restaurant, they went with an old school cash register and struggled at the end of the night with keeping track of taxes because it was not as intuitive to use. I convinced them to order this kit from Amazon and the other necessary items elsewhere and helped them set everything up in less than 30 minutes. This kit provided an excellent, trusted printer and an easy to connect cash drawer. Upon arrival, I had an issue with the cash drawer – it would not open. A quick email (on a Sunday) to the seller, and he gave me advice and a link to an explanation as to how to fix the stuck drawer. Using his explanation took me a couple of minutes to fix it. I am a realistic person, and I understand that things don’t always go as planned, so I was happy the seller worked with me fast to come to a solution. I gave this five stars because of the customer service – you can find similar products elsewhere and they all work the same way… but the customer service provided made this an excellent purchase! Thanks EOM-POS!
Please help! I ordered a pos hardware bundle from Walmart.com and it’s not recognized by My square stand! Is there a way of “tricking” square stand into recognizing my usb receipt printer and cash drawer?
Square is not interested in using anyone but Star. And their attitude is that they frankly don’t care. I know, I have emails from them about it. If I was to guess, I would bet they have a deal with Star that funds their (insert pizza parties, to silk pockets). But lets be realistic. I mean it has to be something viable, right? The fact that Star uses the same print protocals that Epson uses has no bearing on an Epson receipt printer not working. It goes in the same line as Android devices can’t use bluetooth devices… although that new chip reader is bluetooth. It is a lack of customer service and they need to step up to the plate, or someone is going to come along and take their business away from them.
I already had the square reader and just was tired of it being in other spots or being charged. The dock was a great addition to the square stand and the printer. Very easy to use. Just attach to the square stand and put the reader in. The dock has weight to it so i dont have to worry about it falling especially in the spot i put it. Definitely reccomend

You can add your logo and text to your receipt. This is done with software that is included with the receipt printer. By adding your logo to your receipts you have a place to advertise your business. You can also put your phone number on your receipt or your website URL. This is a good thing to do if you’re selling at a craft show, fair, farmers market and etc. The customer may not remember your name and may not go online to search for your website. But if you put your website on the receipt you have a better chance of the customers visiting your website to make a purchase.
If you are buying this for the Amazon Local Register payment platform, be sure to get the Ethernet version (not the USB version). This one only connects to your network and not directly to a computer.

I would definitely recommend this printer and the reseller.

Trust me, if you’re here shopping for a new business and need a printer, you need a thermal receipt printer. Don’t use a regular laser or inkjet printer unless necessary for your situation. It’s awkward, slow, and wastes more resources.

If you operate a mobile food cart or food truck, THIS is the receipt printer you want. In all Honesty, it took me more time to read through the manual than it did to connect to my Ipad. For the record, I am using this receipt printer with Square Register.
Other Thoughts: One improvement to make it even more portable, would be to have a completely wireless model which would recharge, rather than needing to be plugged into mains. When selling at outdoor events, I do not always have access to a power outlet. My Point-of-sale equipment has battery life enough to get me through a whole day without a recharge, so it would be nice if my receipt printer could do the same.
Bought it to print off my Square register with an iPad Air and it worked perfectly right out of the box! No driver download, no ink to mess with – plugged it in, plugged in the USB printer cable (mine WAS included) added paper, went back to previous sales and hit print receipt & a nice clean receipt slid out the top. Seems very commercial grade & well designed. This is kind of a 5 star review for both this printer and the square register since they go together so seamlessly. Very nice.
The Epson TM-m10 and TM-m30 printers’ sleek design saves valuable counter space, while ensuring simple integration with your existing mobile or desktop POS environment, providing intuitive functionality and allowing for front or top load configurations. These point-of-sale printers were engineered to print receipts from virtually any mobile device or desktop PC.
Epson’s main strength is its compact, energy saving and high precision technologies that it has acquired and developed over the years. The same applies to Epson’s TM series of thermal receipt printers where Epson has refined its original printer mechanisms and technologies to create products that are distinct from those of competitors such as Star, Bixolon, Citizen and SII. As part of its efforts to maintain its market leadership, Epson has also developed its original ESC/Pos command language for receipt printers.
With included internal power supply, power cables, complete mounting kits, and paper roll, the TSP100III is the perfect printer for any mPOS bundle. Star has also added an additional USB type A connector for one convenient power source for your tablet or mobile device. The TSP100III prints at a high-speed of 43 RPM (250mm/s) and includes “drop-in & print” paper loading and a guillotine auto-cutter.
The TM-T88V also features auto speed adjustment for smoother printing, margin and line reduction functions to reduce paper usage and costs, and more barcode options including 2D. In addition, it comes with dual interfaces (USB and one additional interface) for flexibility in handling interface transitions.
Liner-free labels are a welcomed addition for quick service restaurants (QSR) applications, from drive-through service self-service deli applications. The liner-free labels can be used for an exception sandwich only or the entire order by attaching it to the bag. The labels can stay with and track an order through the entire preparation process, improving both drive-through, and take-out order accuracy, and a better bottom line. The labels also maintain image integrity because it is engineered to preserve thermal images in applications where heat lamps or exposure to direct heat is used.
The key features of Bluetooth technology are its ubiquitous use in consumer electronics, low power consumption and low cost. The Bluetooth specification defines a uniform structure for a wide range of devices to connect and communicate with each other.
Epson’s cost-effective mPOS-friendly TM-T20II, designed for smaller retailers, is fast, reliable and supports all the leading mobile operating systems including iOS, Android and Windows. The TSP650II features low cost and high performance combined with the ability to work effectively in any environment. Out of the box, the TSP650II can easily be configured. New vertical mounting stand and splash proof cover options help make it one of the most reliable POS printers in the world.
The WiFi Power Pack is designed to make any Star LAN interface printer “wireless”. I did have a question about multiple receipt printing, but an email to the POS Maid support team in conjunction with support from the Star Micronics website, resolved this. You CAN print multiple copies of each transaction.
I have worked with Epson thermal and impact printers in bar and restaurant settings quite a bit over the last 7 years and they are generally pretty reliable so this early of a failure is rare. The TM-T20II is a relatively new model and certain things were done to make it more affordable but I believe they are using the same serial interface card (S01) that the TM-T88V models use.

The Star TSP 100 series printer for QuickBooks POS is a direct-line thermal printer with a clam-shell mechanism. It includes an “error reporting feature” which indicates if there has been a lost network connection by flashing its “error” lights. The “ready” button not only tells the user that the printer is on, but also if it has paper and if it is operating correctly. It will also tell the user if it has a “real” connection to the host computer. The TSP100 series also features “real time status” alerts for the cover being open or paper being out. Due to the TSP100 series connectivity, any PC on the network will be able to see the status of the printer.
The Kitchen Buzzer connects directly the RJ11 port on the back of the printer. The buzzer sounds when a print job is sent to the TSP650II. This is beneficial for high noise environments like kitchens to alert cooks that orders have been sent.

Cons: While you can configure the printer for either front or top output, one of the plates is easy to remove, while the other is quite a challenge. The print quality is not what I was expecting; it was not as sharp as I had hoped.

Designed to work with today’s market leading operating systems – Android, iOS, Linux, Mac OS & Windows, this printer will have a dramatic impact on the retail environment and enhance Star’s leading position in the mPOS as well as traditional POS marketplaces.
iOS users will use the same familiar Airprint experience with their POS system. The printer will work seamlessly with all Apple devices enabling quick setup and simple, high quality receipt printing. This way receipt printing requires no extra configurations, software or additional drivers.

I do not nor do I need a receipt printer. All I want is a USB cash drawer that costs less than $235. Square, if you’re reading this, please add support for a wider variety of USB cash drawers. Your focus is small businesses. Not sure why you have only the most expensive cash drawer (more than 2x the Price of the Square Stand) as the only USB one supported). Surely it can’t be that hard to come up with new drivers?

This printer is terrible. It always has connectivity issues and it is constantly jamming. Worst mistake i made for my business. We have to keep it off until we get a customer otherwise it keeps printing no host receipts and it jams. Called star micronics they said it was probably an issue on my end. WRONG! MY other register, which is hooked up by same switch board, has an Epson printer and it gives no issues. Do not buy this printer for your business. Go with an Epson. Same amount of $, no problems.

Pay Pal says this is compatible, but the few reps I have spoken with are not really familiar enough to guide me through. My LG Optimus phone runs T-Mobile 4g. I connected stand alone router(LAN?) to printer. I am guessing there is a conflict and I need to disconnect 4g or whatever wifi is connected to phone in order to pick-up signal from LAN router, assuming I can’t receive two simultaneous signals. That would disconnect me from Pay Pal transaction. Don’t know what I missing, but so far it’s a lot of wasted time and money. There’s no customer service that I can find with printer and the user guide is scant. I’ll take another look at Star website, but don’t expect to find a solution there. A USB connection would have likely prevented many issues/
This video, from http://www.beaglehardware.com, describes how to connect the approved printer and cash drawer to Square Register. With Square Register, you can print receipts for your customers at the counter. Connect to a cash drawer to make change for customers and store cash. The cash drawer will automatically open when connected to a supported receipt printer for every cash transaction and refund on your iPad or Android device.
When you connect to the USB Receipt Printer or Ethernet Receipt Printer with the included cable, the cash drawer will open every time you complete a cash sale. Or use the included keys to manually open.
Be sure the printer and the iPad are connected to the same network. To confirm this or change your Wi-Fi network, go to the iPad’s Settings and tap “Wi-Fi” located in the left sidebar. Then select the network that the router is broadcasting and click “Connect”.

A simple print button on the tablet application would allow us to connect to a local or network printer and print the same form data. Why is this still impossible? Why can we still not utilize our desktop or local printers to print receipt data from the app?
Hi @McNabbGames — I went ahead and combined your thread with another seller’s who had a similar question. I can assure you that we’re always looking into more affordable hardware options for our sellers. As for the technical explanation, from my limited understanding (I’m not an engineer), each printer manufacturer has a specific driver for their hardware, and since manufacturers don’t build printer drivers for Square Register, we would have to build one for each printer model – which is something we don’t have the bandwidth to do.

This video takes a look at which receipt printers you can use with Square and the Square Stand with iOS, and which printers are best for your business. The USB printers can ONLY print with the Square Stand. We go over the TSP100, TSP100ECO, TSP100III, SM-S220i, and SP700.
Atm it’s cheaper for me to use something else other than square, than to change the printer tablet setup. It appears other people have similar issues. Square managment need to grasp the economics here of only catering to a small hardware segment(Star printers) of the market, while marketing themselves as a simple DIY eftpos POS for small businesses, who burn themselves on compatability issues. Hopefully Square can solve this issue.

If you are using your iPad or iPhone by itself with the Square app, you will not be able to use a USB Star Micronics Printer. You will need either a Bluetooth Receipt Printer, or Ethernet Receipt Printer. A good reason for going with Ethernet, is that you can have multiple devices print to one printer. If you are using an Android device, you can use either an Ethernet Receipt Printer, or and of the USB Receipt Printer stated above as long as you use the USB OTG(on the go) adapter. Please note, Bluetooth is not currently supported on Android for Square.
I spent years in jobs that included lots of cash handling. This cash drawer is the nicest I’ve seen. It’s solid build will last for years and its finish is just lovely. It triggers cleanly and the drawer all but shoots out when triggered. I’m very pleased.
I do appreciate your post though and I wanted to let you know that we are working to provide support for more printers and your feedback is welcome! For example, we recently launched support for several Epson printers which can be used with Square on iOS devices (the full list of printers is here).

With your choice of one or two under till media slots, the Series 4000 makes safely storing receipts, large bills, or other important media a snap. The spacious heavy duty till features coated bill stays and stronger than average dividers, so you can be sure your money stays put.
With resistance to the most brutal environments, APG drawers feature sturdy steel frames powder coated in cloud white or black to resist scratches and other external abuse. Industrial grade steel ball bearing slides on the drawer won’t wear like silicon wheels and promote silky smooth opening and closing every time. The heavy duty latch mechanism is rated for over 4 million operations, allowing you to open the drawer 200 times a day, every day, for nearly 55 years.
Bought this strictly to print receipts with the Amazon Local Register iPad App and card reader, as it is the only receipt printer supported at this time by that platform. (Bought it used via an Amazon re-seller; works perfectly. It was easy to set up on the network using the downloadable Windows software. Once set up, my iPad and the Amazon Local Register app found the printer and linked to it easily. I haven’t tried using any of the other options (like printing our logo or printing coupons), but for what I bought it for it works perfectly. It prints extremely fast and clearly. The cutter works well, too. It is nice that it can be mounted to a vertical surface if desired.
Unless proven otherwise, I agree.  And in my business, giving a client a receipt on what amounts to a piece of adding machine paper is unprofessional.  I should be able to use any printer that is compatible with the iPad, not just the uni-tasker receipt printers.

VERY EASY. As soon as it was plugged in to the wall, the iPad & the cash drawer, it worked! We did not need to download anything – just plug & go. We will be using this on the go – so it was nice to not need to plug in to Ethernet. Very happy. Also, less expensive to buy piece by piece than the whole set. We bought the following cash drawer to accompany the printer: PARTYSAVING Point of Sales/Cash 12V Drawer Register Metal RJ-11 Key-Lock W/ Bill & Movable Coin Trays APL1304, Black
Alongside this the TSP654IIBI (Bluetooth) is the first desktop Bluetooth printer for Apple iOS and Android with cash drawer support and is compatible with major operating systems including Mac OSX, Android, Windows and Linux.
The printer is fine but bluetooth connectivity has been an incredible challenge. We have probably wasted 20 hours wrestling with it in the few weeks we have had it. The Starprint utility can say it is not connected when it is … and vice versa. The Bluetooth says it is not connected yet we can print a receipt from the register. The delay communicating via bluetooth means we have to leave a key in teh till drawer rather than wait for it to eventually open even though we have adjusted the utility and timing. So, while the printer is fine, don’t go bluetooth because you can’t use a cable even if you want to as there’s no socket …. just bluetooth ! So, buy a cable printer version and be happier !
These printer works seamlessly with our square stand. I was able to take out of the box, install and set it up in under 10 minutes. We do on occasion see some issues with the paper jamming but I believe that is due to the type of paper we purchased.
In continuing with its Always-Leading- Always Innovative corporate philosophy, Star Micronics America is proud to announce the release of its latest thermal printer, the TSP650II, which is replacing the TSP650.
I need to print 2 copies of our receipts. This printer does not allow you to change those settings. I was told the “lower end” models dont allow you to. I did not realize I was purchasing a “lower end” printer.

I’m not sure why there are so many mixed up reviews and answers to the questions. I have two iPad without a square stand. This easily connected to my cash drawer and WiFi router. BOTH iPads are connected to the receipt printer and BOTH can print at the same time as well as open up my cash drawer. The receipt are thick enough to read and make orders off of and the font size is nice. The warranty is longer on the 88V so it, including the increased speed, the increased reliability there is a longer warranty on the T88V. High paced restaurants or retail establishments I’d still go with the 88V, I’d spend a little extra money and get the better printer but if you are on a tight budget and you’re looking for something more economical the T20II is a good solution, the speed has definitely improved over the original T20. If you liked this video, if it was helpful to you, please visit us at www.POSGuys.com and we’d appreciate a thumbs up and a like or maybe a good comment. Thanks!
With included internal power supply, power cables, complete mounting kits, and paper roll, the TSP100III is the perfect printer for any mPOS bundle. STAR has also added a built-in USB type A connector to power your tablet or mobile device. The TSP100III offers a small form factor for any sized counter-space and prints up to twice the speed of its previous model at 43 receipts per minute. The high-speed, thermal printer also includes a guillotine auto-cutter and “drop-in & print” paper loading for even the busiest of retail and hospitality environments.
Epson’s cost-effective mPOS-friendly TM-T20II, designed for smaller retailers, is fast, reliable and supports all the leading mobile operating systems including iOS, Android and Windows. Note If the Bluetooth icon is not in the notification area, click Start, click Run, type bthprops.cpl, and then click OK. To use the bthprops.cpl command, make sure that your version of Windows supports your Epson Bluetooth adapter and the Bluetooth adapter has been successfully installed on your Windows based computer.
Printer works great with Square after you manage to get it to connect. The very first thing you want to is to set dip switch #3 to off. To do this, locate the tiny plate on the bottom that is held on by a Philips screw and remove the plate. The dip switches are there. Then, after installing the wifi link device, connect it to your computer’s Ethernet using the included cord and configure the wifi adapter. Star Micronics suggests using the client mode. I had to use the bridge mode to get it to successfully connect to my hotspot. Don’t forget to change the password from the default setting, by clicking the System Tools on the menu while you’re setting it all up.
Since the output of Bluetooth radio waves is limited, communication can be affected by the setup location, direction installed, other devices in the area, etc., which may disrupt or decrease the speed of communication. As a result, make sure to thoroughly check device operation prior to using.
This printer comes with a disk. If you are using it with an Ipad, the disk is useless. The only thing I am disappointed with at this point is that I can not print by business logo on my receipts. This is not a downfall of the printer but the program that I am using. This printer prints the business logo ‘”IF” you are using a Mac or Windows based POS system.

Slightly larger than the TM‑m10, the TM‑m30 POS receipt printer offers the freedom to print 3‑ receipts from virtually any mobile device or desktop PC. Plus, you can use one power source for your tablet and printer — exclusively from Epson. Approx. Dimensions 5″ x 5″ x 5″

So the TM-T20 II has about a thirty percent increase in print speed verse the previous model when printing receipts. Has a pretty good print speed and auto-cutter, it has the variable size font, it can print graphics, it can print barcodes, a good all-around print speed. The print speed is adequate compared to receipt printers from about 5 or 6 years ago, it’s as fast as any of them. Compared to the top receipt printers like the Epson TM-T885, it’s a bit slower, but unless you’re like a grocery store or a very high volume retail establishment, you probably don’t need maximum print speed- 200 millimeters per second is going to be fast enough.
Bluetooth uses a master/slave device relationship to create what is called a piconet. One device within the piconet network is the master device (also called the host) that generates a frequency hopping pattern. A maximum of seven slave devices can participate in a single network.
Printer Interfaces Built-in USB interface + another selection: serial RS-232C, parallel IEEE-1284, high-speed USB, powered USB, Ethernet 10/100Base-T/TX, wireless, or a Connect-It interface (Only one interface can be used at a time.)
i bought this printer to complement my diy pos system. the other items include a dell computer and monitor, and this cash drawer, all for under $700. the printer included the epson opos drivers, which allowed me to install the printer to the computer very easily. this printer also communicates with the cash drawer perfectly, and allowed me to add a custom image to the top of the receipt with very little effort.

If you take orders with your iPad but do not have a square stand and need a printer that will connect to multiply iPads this is what you are looking for!!
To bring you the future of receipt printing now, a full set of software utilities is also included. Redesign your receipt without modifying your application. Add your logo. Add coupons. Preview receipts and enhance bar codes. Included operating system drivers allow for ‘Plug & Play’ automatic installation.

Hi this is Travis with POSGuys.com. Today we’re taking a relook at a video we created a couple years ago. This is the TM-T88V and this is the new version of the T20 ReadyPrint, the T202 or T20II however you want to call it. The print speed has been increased on this but also some internal changing has been done on the printer. The printer can print a lot faster than it used to be. Take a look at our older video where we compared the print speed from the 88V to the original T20. You can see a significant slow down whenever this had to print heavy graphics. So in that original video there was like a black bar that would print every other line and that black bar really caused this printer to slow down. The T20II has been upgraded so that is no longer the case. The speed prints like you would expect it to print which is slower than the 88V but not significantly slower.
UPDATE: August 14, 2016 – Still no issues with printing. There is a slight delay, about five seconds, between completing the transaction and printing the receipt. This could very well be an issue using Square Payment Systems, and not really the printer and the IPad that I’ve linked it to for Square sales. The printer does lose its Bluetooth connection when I move the IPad to the next room, which is expected, but it often does not “find” and then “pair” again without me going through the printer’s pairing process again. For that reason, I’m lowering my star rating from five to four. In the scheme of things, this is just a minor inconvenience and the printer quality more than makes up for any issues with pairing from time to time.
i can’t believe this printer costs ~$150! i would expect something that works this well to cost at least twice as much (as many other options do). i can’t recommend this thermal printer highly enough!

Works as advertised. No on/off switch. It instantly wakes up when I run the Square register app on our IPAD Air 2 POS with the Square stand. The printing is fast and easily readable. It is very nice when the combination of products (I.E. Square Stand, Square Register, IPAD Air 2 and this printer) works so well together.
I purchased this printer as a compliment for Square Register, it works beautifully! There is almost no setup, I plugged it into the USB hub provided with Square Register, went into setup on the register and it recognized it immediately. Printed the test page and then printed a transaction, super easy. I highly recommend this printer if you’re a Square Register user. I’ll be buying more as we continue to expand our business.
2. While holding down the FEED button, turn on the printer using the switch on the top front of the printer. The self test prints the printer settings and then prints the following, cuts the paper, and pauses.

I use this with Square Register on a Samsung Galaxy Note (3 ?). Once it’s set up it plugs right into the USB On The Go adapter, app detects the printer, and I can print my customers their receipt! Very professional looking instead of just a text message or email URL, which many of our customers wouldn’t really know how to use. It seems like a high price to pay for such a small seemingly simple device but so far it appears to be a sturdy, lasting machine. A package of receipt paper lasts a long time. If things fall through it has a high resale value as opposed to some other devices (just check out eBay and Amazon used).

The serial version work great to swap out older nonfunctional models on our Aloha POS that need to be sent off for re-manufacturing (never throw one of these away, they can be rebuilt for $80-$100). Love the modular connection cards, if you need eithernet connection down the road just replace the card in the bottom. Make sure you set the dipswitches correctly to work with whatever POS system you are using. They are located in the bottom of the unit under the small silver panel secured with a phillips head screw.
