I need to print 2 copies of our receipts. This printer does not allow you to change those settings. I was told the “lower end” models dont allow you to. I did not realize I was purchasing a “lower end” printer.
Bluetooth is a wireless communications technology that is simple, secure, and easy to use. You can find it in billions of devices ranging from popular consumer devices such as mobile phones and tablets, to business products such as receipt printers and cash drawers, to home entertainment products, and even medical devices. Bluetooth technology is intended to replace the cables connecting devices, while maintaining high levels of security.
This incompatibility exists between Java 9 and the POS printers, so OCLC unfortunately is not able to make changes to WMS to remedy the issue. Until the POS printer manufacturers release new versions of the printer drivers that support Java 9, workstations that install this Java version will not be able to print receipts using a POS printer (NOTE: this applies to both the applet and the downloaded POS printer application). We have reached out to several printer manufacturers to make them aware of this problem but have not received any timeline for updated drivers”.
The TSP143III is the faster, easier, and better POS printing solution. Already a leading player in the mPOS market, Star Micronics’ TSP143III is offered with WLAN, LAN, Bluetooth, or USB interface connection for an easy-to-use and ready-to-go installation. The TSP143III now offers a web configuration page for the WLAN and LAN TSP143III printers, a simpler wat for all devices to connect to the WLAN printer for set-up with AP mode, an easy Bluetooth pairing connection, and a “plug and play” USB connection. For the USB version, there will be a new USB serial number feature so the PC will detect the TSP143IIIU on its Windows platform using any USB port. The new thermal receipt printer is an upgrade of the TSP100, printing at almost twice the speed with a special de-curl function, and it fully compatible with its previous version, requiring no additional integration or development.
The TM-T88V also features auto speed adjustment for smoother printing, margin and line reduction functions to reduce paper usage and costs, and more barcode options including 2D. In addition, it comes with dual interfaces (USB and one additional interface) for flexibility in handling interface transitions.

Introducing Star’s new Ethernet printer solution, the latest model from Star’s renowned TSP100 Series used by retailers & restaurateurs across the globe from major retailers & fast food restaurants to your local corner shop & café.
Printing requires an application and/or driver designed for this printer. In the case of Windows the Epson Windows printer driver provides the communication link to the TM-P60 printer. It is not possible to test or use the printer without first installing the driver.
I use this with square register. Super easy setup, very nice print quality just know that it only comes with a sample roll of paper so make sure you add a larger pack with purchase. It takes 3 1/4 inch thermal paper
As a result of these efforts, Epson receipt printers have become a global standard. Sold throughout the world, the company’s miniprinters have been highly evaluated by customers with sales now surpassing 300 million units.
Combined with its powerful futurePRNT Windows software, users can enhance their printer receipts to add graphics (logos and coupons), multiple copies, or use the text processing function to replace printed information or trigger a coupon, and much, much more.
The Epson receipt printer runs through print jobs at a rate of up to 300 mm per second. This gets your customers’ receipts printed quickly, keeping the line moving at your point of sale. This helps ensure that your customers aren’t turned away by long, slow-moving lines.
The WiFi Power Pack is designed to make any Star LAN interface printer “wireless”. Powered by the printer’s cash drawer kick port, the WiFi Power Pack avoids additional power outlet, eliminating the possibility of tangled cables. The WiFi Power Pack includes a DK-USB power module and a TP Link wireless router.
With built-in Bluetooth connectivity the TSP100IIIBI is an ideal wireless bluetooth receipt printer for retail, hospitality and tablet POS environments. It also features an AUTOCONNECT function for iOS devices (Apple iPad/iPhone) which will automatically connect the TSP100 printer when the printer is switched on or when the printer comes back into range of the device.
The Kitchen Buzzer connects directly the RJ11 port on the back of the printer. The buzzer sounds when a print job is sent to the TSP100. This is beneficial for high noise environments like kitchens to alert cooks that orders have been sent.
Spent over an hour with the manufacturers help line but could not get to work with the UPS software. The issue was the barcode lines were not smooth enough to be read by a barcode scanner. Finally rented a unit from UPS by the month. Going to still try this unit for USPS shipping labels. Will say the person on the help line made a valiant effort trying to fix the issue though.
Wall Mountable   Need more counter space? Create more room by mounting the printer to the wall. The futurePRNT Configuration Utility allows for Text Reversal so the receipt is printed to face the user.
So in the scheme of “would we buy these printers?” it comes down to would we buy these instead of other Epson printers? I would probably recommend the T20II the most out of all the printers, I think for the price and features and warranty, the T20II is your best bet. If you are worried about space though, take a look at the M series, especially the M10, it’s very very small compared to older receipt printers. The styling on both of these are better than the T20II. If you’re looking for just pure performance, pure reliability, pure speed, the T88V is still your best bet. So that’s kind of the Epson overview of all their printers. Good printers, probably at this time not their best printers, but they are space saving options, and there are some unique pairing capabilities, so if you’re on a tablet or something like that and you don’t have a USB port, then take a look and see if a proper interface is available for you. To purchase these printers, or for more information, please visit us at POSGuys.com. Thanks!

Very easy setup once you find the pairing button in the lower back of the unit. I am using this printer as a kitchen printer linked to my wait staff’s iPad POS using Square Card OS. Works like a charm and only has a 2-3 seconds delay for Bluetooth printing.

The printer is compact, prints clearly, and has absolutely no issue when printing a receipt for my Square sales. The fact that it is blue tooth meant I could put it anywhere in my home office that was convenient and not tied down by the length of a USB cord otherwise. I have it linked up to an old iPhone 4s phone and run credit cards using Square and print receipts easily. I’m so pleased that I paid some more money and got the blue tooth version.

i picked up some ncr receipt paper also, which works great in the printer. print quality is excellent, and the speed is plenty fast. the cutter also works very well. the footprint is small enough that the printer fits neatly behind the monitor, on top of the cash drawer. servicing the printer is also very easy, as all you need to do is open the top, toss in a new roll of paper, and make sure some extra paper is sticking out the top when you close it; no feeding paper through rollers or any of that headache. it does all the work for you.
This printer is ideal for any Point of Sale application! The Star Micronics TSP143IIIBi, part of the TSP100III series, is the new standard for Bluetooth POS printer solutions. Strong performance, reliable, a must have! We use square pos have no problems, kitchen tickets life saver! Tickets printed from are iPad mini within 2 seconds, no problems with Bluetooth connection, now are printer is only 3 feet away from iPad maybe that helps. Been using this printer for about two years, will never go back to hand written order tickets! Well worth the price!!!!!
Although this printer is really nice, if you have Android devices, don’t expect it to work with the Square / SqareUp Point Of Sale (POS) app. It will work with iOS devices. It will NOT work with Android devices! Square does not presently support Bluetooth printers on their Android app.
Enhanced guillotine cutter completes the list of well thought out components with the usual Star central partial cut allowing all hanging receipts, kitchen order etc, to hang patiently in straight line.

I have worked with Epson thermal and impact printers in bar and restaurant settings quite a bit over the last 7 years and they are generally pretty reliable so this early of a failure is rare. The TM-T20II is a relatively new model and certain things were done to make it more affordable but I believe they are using the same serial interface card (S01) that the TM-T88V models use.

We were hesitant about getting this printer since it did not have an Off switch but so far that hasn’t been an issue since the printer itself hasn’t had the same errors we’ve been experiencing with an old receipt printer we were using without much success before.
POSMaid is wonderful for a small business or Craft Show use. It is affordable and very functional. Allows for all monetary transactions and keeps tally. It is perfect for Entry level use. The inventory control is more than I expected.
The combination of its fast print speeds, high reliability and economical operation, make this Energy Star-qualified printer a must-have for small retail and speciality stores, hospitality venues and grocery stores.
A standard USB receipt printer for traditional POS terminals (including Windows, Android, Linux), the TSP143IIIU can be used with a mobile tablet based system with direct printing from iOS devices via the supplied Lightning to USB cable, providing a truly versatile solution. Retailers can now combine the reliability of cabled terminal POS with the flexibility and advantages of mobile tablet POS without the Bluetooth or WiFi / wired LAN set-up issues around pairing, network infrastructure and connectivity.
I use this with Square Register on a Samsung Galaxy Note (3 ?). Once it’s set up it plugs right into the USB On The Go adapter, app detects the printer, and I can print my customers their receipt! Very professional looking instead of just a text message or email URL, which many of our customers wouldn’t really know how to use. It seems like a high price to pay for such a small seemingly simple device but so far it appears to be a sturdy, lasting machine. A package of receipt paper lasts a long time. If things fall through it has a high resale value as opposed to some other devices (just check out eBay and Amazon used).
The Mobile Power Supply allows users to put the TSP654SK into vehicle applications like printing law enforcement tickets, truck tickets, and more. It converts 12VDC into the required 24VDC to power the printer.

Slightly larger than the TM-m10, the TM-m30 POS receipt printer offers the freedom to print 3- receipts from virtually any mobile device or desktop PC. Plus, you can use one power source for your tablet and printer — exclusively from Epson.
Pros: Good Newegg price for a quality printer. Energy star compliant, quiet, and works flawlessly. Epson has always made durable products for heavy commercial use. We have been using/abusing them for years without complaint. Out of the box set up was simple and quick. Would definitely recommend this printer to anyone that needs a mid level business receipt printer.
The Kitchen Buzzer connects directly the RJ11 port on the back of the printer. The buzzer sounds when a print job is sent to the TSP650II. This is beneficial for high noise environments like kitchens to alert cooks that orders have been sent.

We’ll do another speed test here. So what we did is we setup both of these printers as kitchen printers. We’re going to just add a bunch of items to the order. So as you can see the 88V still printed faster but not so much faster that this would be a hindrance. So definitely an improvement on the T20 versus the older model. The price is about the same as the T20II as it was for the original T20. One big change on it is that the power supply used to be internal on the T20 and it is now external on the T20II. So there is a little brick that you’ll have to hide somewhere under your counter or under a table. Something like that. Before it was just a single cord. Which actually can be a good thing should a power supply fail you can replace it where before it was internal so once that power supply failed then your printer would have to be replaced.
The Epson TM-T20II receipt printer has some improvements over its predecessor. As an example, the TM-T20II prints a blazing fast 200mm / second versus only 150mm / sec of their predecessor. The TM-T20II has dual interfaces : USB and Serial ; whereas, the very first generation printer was just USB or Serial interface.

I know that the Square corporate line is that the APG Vasario VB554A-BL1616  is the only USB cash drawer that works with the Square Stand hub (which means you don’t need a printer, which is what I want). I started off the implementation of Bluetooth printer support by using the same concurrency model used by our WiFi printer code and running Bluetooth printing and printer discovery blocks on a global concurrent queue. I quickly found what appeared to be a non-deterministic bug — sometimes I could print a receipt with no problem, and other times it would fail part way through. What I was in fact encountering was a timer firing and searching for connected printers while the app was in the middle of sending data to a printer. While this behavior was perfectly acceptable in communication for WiFi printers (TCP supports multiple simultaneous connections), it totally broke down in the new communication channel. It became clear that some kind of mutual exclusion was necessary to prevent this kind of collision.

At the highest level, Register has a Peripheral class to model every hardware device we support. It includes common properties like manufacturer name, model name, and its connection state. At the next level down is the Printer class, which encapsulates printer-specific information like the kind of data it can print and its print width, as well as abstract methods for printing images and text. Having this infrastructure in place made the design of the Bluetooth printer class clearer, and provided a clean, generic API for the rest of the app to use to print images and text to any printer, leaving the low-level details of the printer communication to the subclasses.
If you need a remote Kitchen Impact Order Printer, the Star SP742ML or SP742ME will work for all applications. It is a Dot Matrix Receipt Printer and uses a ribbon, so you can print on carbon copy paper rolls, or standard single ply :
To create your own bar codes and labels, you’ll need to use a third-party application. At the moment, we don’t support bar code and label printers and can’t guarantee compatibility, but many customers have success using the DYMO Label Writer 450 and labels with Square.
eBay determines trending price through a machine learned model of the product’s sale prices within the last 90 days. “New” refers to a brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item, and “Used” refers to an item that has been used previously.
A cash drawer must be connected to a receipt printer to open automatically. Otherwise, you’ll need to manually open the drawer using the cash drawer key. To link your cash drawer to the Square app on your iPad, you can connect it to a supported receipt printer that has a peripheral drive connector using an interface cable. Most receipt printers, except mobile bluetooth printers, generally have a peripheral drive connector.
A printer-driven cash drawer must be connected to an receipt printer to open automatically. Otherwise you’ll need to manually open the drawer using the cash drawer key. A USB cash drawer (requires Square Stand) will open automatically when connected.
Just click the Transaction and the Receipt will preview on the right-hand side. At the bottom, you’ll see the receipt number (ex: Receipt #H8R5). Click that and it will show you the digital version of the receipt. From there you’re good to print on the standard 8×11 printer paper.
Thermal printers use heat to create characters. Many people prefer them since they don’t require ink or toner, which can be quite costly to replace after years of doing business. In fact, thermal printers are one of the top money-saving tools used by companies who do a lot of shipping labels. Thermal printers use coated thermochromic paper, and the thermal head heats up the areas where it needs to create characters. The heat causes the coating on the paper to turn black, resulting in the desired content. Thermal printers are usually faster than Dot-matrix or Inkjet models since the characters are created in one movement.

Had 3 of these in my place to on cash draws one in the kitchen they work well as long as there is no internet/WiFi drop off. Using it with couple IPad Airs and Square register app for several years. When I loose internet or sometimes they seem to disconnect from the register even when I don’t have internet problems and they usually have to powered off and on. Also in the mean time my cash draw wont open and I have to find the key. Being so annoyed I with connection issues I have since replaced them with the USB versions (except the kitchen one) and all my problems stopped.

Square introduces more ways to engage with customers. Square now integrates with cash drawers and receipt printers. With a single tap on an iPad, you can open your register’s drawer to complete a cash sale or make change. Please read the options below carefully before purchasing a cash drawer.
Atm it’s cheaper for me to use something else other than square, than to change the printer tablet setup. It appears other people have similar issues. Square managment need to grasp the economics here of only catering to a small hardware segment(Star printers) of the market, while marketing themselves as a simple DIY eftpos POS for small businesses, who burn themselves on compatability issues. Hopefully Square can solve this issue.
Many businesses understand the importance of offering promotions and discounts, so a receipt printer capable of printing coupons, too, is incredibly useful. Businesses that service a high volume of customers every day, and especially those that create long, itemized receipts should consider a model with a high paper-per-minute production rate. If the receipt printer is for a home office, where the user doesn’t want to disturb others, a person should look for a thermal printer; these are the quietest variety since they do not use any impact to create the font.

Pay Pal says this is compatible, but the few reps I have spoken with are not really familiar enough to guide me through. My LG Optimus phone runs T-Mobile 4g. I connected stand alone router(LAN?) to printer. I am guessing there is a conflict and I need to disconnect 4g or whatever wifi is connected to phone in order to pick-up signal from LAN router, assuming I can’t receive two simultaneous signals. That would disconnect me from Pay Pal transaction. Don’t know what I missing, but so far it’s a lot of wasted time and money. There’s no customer service that I can find with printer and the user guide is scant. I’ll take another look at Star website, but don’t expect to find a solution there. A USB connection would have likely prevented many issues/
Please help! I ordered a pos hardware bundle from Walmart.com and it’s not recognized by My square stand! Is there a way of “tricking” square stand into recognizing my usb receipt printer and cash drawer?
I am sure that this has been asked and answered, but the search feature on this communities site is not very robust and the information I’ve been able to gather from square/communities is not entirely clear. So I am asking again (maybe).
An update 11/21/15 Had it working fine with Amazon local register until Amazon shut it down, so bought the PayPal chip and card reader- the updated paypal iOs app will not print to this printer. (iOs 9.1/ iPad 3). The workaround I found was to turn this printer in to an airprint printer- it’s a bit of a hack, instructions are out there, problem being you must have a host computer on the network. To be clear- this is a PayPal issue- not a fault of the printer.
There are three main types of receipt printers: Inkjet, Dot-matrix, and Thermal. Dot-matrix printers have a small printing head that moves either in an up and down or side to side motion. Like a typewriter, this printer depends on the impact of the head against the paper to produce characters. The head hits a cloth ribbon that is covered in ink, and then impresses a character onto the paper. It creates characters through a series of thousands of tiny dots, which is how it gets its name. One concern with Dot-matrix printers is that the ribbon must frequently be replaced. Inkjet printers use tiny ink guns to create their characters, instead of impact. The guns shoot little dots of ink at the paper, but the dots are so minuscule that people cannot detect them inside of the characters.
Receipt printers are designed to hold small paper roles, instead of vertically placed stacks of paper like one finds in standard 8.5″ by 11″ printers. Instead of connecting to a traditional keyboard, they usually hook up to a cash register or whatever device holds the business’ point of sale system. They’re usually quite compact since they sit on cluttered surfaces like the check-out area of a grocery store or the desk of a working professional.

I’m not sure why there are so many mixed up reviews and answers to the questions. I have two iPad without a square stand. This easily connected to my cash drawer and WiFi router. BOTH iPads are connected to the receipt printer and BOTH can print at the same time as well as open up my cash drawer. The receipt are thick enough to read and make orders off of and the font size is nice. If you take orders with your iPad but do not have a square stand and need a printer that will connect to multiply iPads this is what you are looking for!!
This product worked well the first 4 weeks with the Square POS and the past few days the printer has not been printing continuously. The iPad states, “Printer Error” and the printer must be shut off and paper drawer opened up and turned back on again. There are NO returns on this item through Amazon so buyers please be aware. I am in the process of working directly with Star Micronics.
The warranty is longer on the 88V so it, including the increased speed, the increased reliability there is a longer warranty on the T88V. High paced restaurants or retail establishments I’d still go with the 88V, I’d spend a little extra money and get the better printer but if you are on a tight budget and you’re looking for something more economical the T20II is a good solution, the speed has definitely improved over the original T20. If you liked this video, if it was helpful to you, please visit us at www.POSGuys.com and we’d appreciate a thumbs up and a like or maybe a good comment. Thanks!

The TM-22 is a great all-around receipt printer, especially if you’re a low volume retail establishment. It’s quiet, its decently fast, about 30 percent faster than the older TM-T20 receipt printer. The warranty is 2 years, which isn’t quite as good as the 4 year warranty on the TM-T88 V, the speed also isn’t quite as good, but it’s still a good all-around receipt printer and something you should consider if you want a better printer than an impact printer but you don’t want to spend the full price of the TM-T88 V. For more information or to purchase the receipt printer, please visit us at www.posguys.com.
Receipts from this Epson receipt printer are always clear and legible. The printer operates by thermal transfer, which doesn’t damage the paper or produce faded, illegible script. This thermal transfer unit is quiet, making it ideal for busy sales floors.

UPDATE: August 14, 2016 – Still no issues with printing. There is a slight delay, about five seconds, between completing the transaction and printing the receipt. This could very well be an issue using Square Payment Systems, and not really the printer and the IPad that I’ve linked it to for Square sales. The printer does lose its Bluetooth connection when I move the IPad to the next room, which is expected, but it often does not “find” and then “pair” again without me going through the printer’s pairing process again. For that reason, I’m lowering my star rating from five to four. In the scheme of things, this is just a minor inconvenience and the printer quality more than makes up for any issues with pairing from time to time.

Status lights on the printer are available in this bar at the top. When the cover is open, you’ll get a warning, when it’s out of paper you’ll get a flashing warning telling you you’re out of paper, so very handy, and then there’s a little icon that kind of tells you what the different errors mean. The M30 prints at a nice 8 inches per second. The M10 prints at a slightly slower but still very good 6 inches per second.

Overall, seems to be a decent printer to use with an iPad-based point of sale system. However, after about 3 weeks, the printer stopped cutting the receipts & went into an error mode that the owner’s manual said was “non-recoverable”. I contacted Star Micronics customer service & shipped to their repair facility. They got it back to me within 3-4 days & everything was covered under the warranty, minus the cost to ship the printer to them. So far, it seems to be working as expected since I got it back from being repaired. Perhaps I just got a bad one that came off the assembly line & somehow managed to slip through quality control.

Since the output of Bluetooth radio waves is limited, communication can be affected by the setup location, direction installed, other devices in the area, etc., which may disrupt or decrease the speed of communication. As a result, make sure to thoroughly check device operation prior to using.
Cons: While you can configure the printer for either front or top output, one of the plates is easy to remove, while the other is quite a challenge. The print quality is not what I was expecting; it was not as sharp as I had hoped.
❏ Place Bluetooth compatible devices away from other electrical devices. Do not operate near automatic doors, fire alarms, etc., as a malfunction could occur. Using a device such as a microwave oven that emits strong high-frequency energy may cause interference. If this occurs, relocate the Bluetooth device(s) to a location with less interference.

This was good – arrived in fine condition – however the description said everything was included in the box, including interface cable (which can only mean the usb cable since that’s the only other cable beyond the power cable necessary – and that is also mentioned in the description)… BUT there was definitely no USB cable included in the package. So, will need to purchase one for this to work. Which I would have done when I placed this order, but was under the impression everything was included.
Interface TSP654II Serial, Parallel, USB, Ethernet and Non Interface versions. Plug-In Options for non-interface version: Serial (IFBD-HD03), 9-pin Serial (HN03), Parallel (HC03), Ethernet (HE07), WebPRNT (HE07X).  WiFi version available with TSP654II Ethernet plus Star WiFi Power Pack. Bluetooth version  – TSP654IIBI.
This is a fantastic product, worked as expected with tons of options and the ability to configure settings is very handy. Everything installed properly and it works despite not having a dedicated POS server! The ability to reduce receipt size has been a huge thing for us. Only issue we ran into was an issue on our side of things not fully uninstalling our old drivers, but once we did a full uninstall it worked like a dream. The ability of the printer to cut the receipt off for us has been a big help and makes them look much more professional over all and speeds things up considerably more than we expected.

The Kitchen Buzzer is designed to connect directly to the RJ11 port on the back of the printer. When a print job is sent to the TSP650, the buzzer will sound off. This is beneficial for high noise environments like kitchens to alert cooks that orders have been sent to them.
With included internal power supply, power cables, complete mounting kits, and paper roll, the TSP100III is the perfect printer for any mPOS bundle. STAR has also added a built-in USB type A connector to power your tablet or mobile device. The TSP100III offers a small form factor for any sized counter-space and prints up to twice the speed of its previous model at 43 receipts per minute. The high-speed, thermal printer also includes a guillotine auto-cutter and “drop-in & print” paper loading for even the busiest of retail and hospitality environments.
The TM-T88V is the latest addition to Epson’s industry leading TM-T88 POS printer Serialies. Designed for use in food Serialvice and retail environments, the TM-T88V offers more speed, features and reliability than ever before.
Good Low cost printer, we have two of these in our restaurant connected to via USB to our Square Stands, this model is plug and play compatible with Square Stand via USB now that Square has updated their software. The only potential negative is that this model like most EPSON POS printers uses a large power adapter with a proprietary epson connector at one end, a large brick then a standard ac plug at the other end, this just means that wiring will be a little messier unless you can route all that under your counter like we did.
I use this with square register. Super easy setup, very nice print quality just know that it only comes with a sample roll of paper so make sure you add a larger pack with purchase. It takes 3 1/4 inch thermal paper
The printer is fine but bluetooth connectivity has been an incredible challenge. We have probably wasted 20 hours wrestling with it in the few weeks we have had it. The Starprint utility can say it is not connected when it is … and vice versa. The Bluetooth says it is not connected yet we can print a receipt from the register. The delay communicating via bluetooth means we have to leave a key in teh till drawer rather than wait for it to eventually open even though we have adjusted the utility and timing. So, while the printer is fine, don’t go bluetooth because you can’t use a cable even if you want to as there’s no socket …. just bluetooth ! So, buy a cable printer version and be happier !

You can’t beat the TM-T88 series of printers. The serial version work great to swap out older nonfunctional models on our Aloha POS that need to be sent off for re-manufacturing (never throw one of these away, they can be rebuilt for $80-$100). Love the modular connection cards, if you need eithernet connection down the road just replace the card in the bottom. Make sure you set the dipswitches correctly to work with whatever POS system you are using. They are located in the bottom of the unit under the small silver panel secured with a phillips head screw.
I’ve purchased several of these at various times for use with Square POS systems, haven’t had any problem with any of them. Our owner was very happy that it’s able to print our graphic logo on the receipts.

Restaurant owners need receipt printers that are heat and humidity resistant as they will likely place them in the kitchen where their staff can quickly receive new orders. Busy businesses that have a lot of staff moving around should look for a receipt printer in a sturdy clamshell housing that can survive being knocked over. If someone needs their receipt printer to communicate with several computers, they should get one with Ethernet and local area network connectivity.

My first inclination, having just taken a class in C++ using pthreads, was to simply use locks. I created a shared NSLock through a class method and locked before listening and printing, as described in Apple’s Threading Programming Guide. I was excited when it accomplished the mutual exclusion I wanted, but my coworkers were less thrilled about using such a low-level solution given the higher level abstractions available in iOS. In search of a higher-level solution, I replaced the global concurrent queue on which I was running the printer code with a serial dispatch queue, allowing only one block to be run at once. I was getting warmer, but my new solution still raised some concerns.
Overall, this is a great printer. I can’t complain about the price because for similar thermal printers, this is relatively cheap. Any cheaper and there are issues with printing mechanics and whatnot.
First and foremost, a little background info: I own my own business and have been using the Square Register POS system for over four years. I have a different kit, but they’re all similar products. When my friends decided to open their restaurant, they went with an old school cash register and struggled at the end of the night with keeping track of taxes because it was not as intuitive to use. I convinced them to order this kit from Amazon and the other necessary items elsewhere and helped them set everything up in less than 30 minutes. This kit provided an excellent, trusted printer and an easy to connect cash drawer. Upon arrival, I had an issue with the cash drawer – it would not open. A quick email (on a Sunday) to the seller, and he gave me advice and a link to an explanation as to how to fix the stuck drawer. Using his explanation took me a couple of minutes to fix it. I am a realistic person, and I understand that things don’t always go as planned, so I was happy the seller worked with me fast to come to a solution. I gave this five stars because of the customer service – you can find similar products elsewhere and they all work the same way… but the customer service provided made this an excellent purchase! Thanks EOM-POS!
The printer that Square supports is one of the largest used brands in the receipt printer market.  They are not getting kickbacks on printers as the printers are sold by hundreds of places including Amazon, and the buyer doesn’t know you are buying it to print with Square as the printer is also used by 100s of other POS systems. More printer options would always be better, but as this is one of the industry standard printers it only makes sense they support it.
You can add your logo and text to your receipt. This is done with software that is included with the receipt printer. By adding your logo to your receipts you have a place to advertise your business. You can also put your phone number on your receipt or your website URL. This is a good thing to do if you’re selling at a craft show, fair, farmers market and etc. The customer may not remember your name and may not go online to search for your website. But if you put your website on the receipt you have a better chance of the customers visiting your website to make a purchase.

Great product and great company to work with. I at first ordered the TSP143U which is a USB Printer to work with a Tablet to set up a POS system at my business. Once I got it, I realized that if I had the printer plugged into the tablet there was no additional port to then charge the tablet. I contacted the company and they gladly accepted my return and let me reorder this LAN Printer. I highly recommend this vendor and their product.

If you are using your iPad or iPhone by itself with the Square app, you will not be able to use a USB Star Micronics Printer. You will need either a Bluetooth Receipt Printer, or Ethernet Receipt Printer. A good reason for going with Ethernet, is that you can have multiple devices print to one printer. If you are using an Android device, you can use either an Ethernet Receipt Printer, or and of the USB Receipt Printer stated above as long as you use the USB OTG(on the go) adapter. Please note, Bluetooth is not currently supported on Android for Square.
With your choice of one or two under till media slots, the Series 4000 makes safely storing receipts, large bills, or other important media a snap. The spacious heavy duty till features coated bill stays and stronger than average dividers, so you can be sure your money stays put.

I looked around for a hardware bundle for my Square POS setup and ultimately went with this combination. Very pleased with the product and the seller’s follow up was excellent. They answered several of my questions quickly and over the holiday weekend.
Edit to say that the network issues I mentioned were tied to the wireless router we were using. Replaced that piece and the printer started working great. I still recommend purchasing as a package for better price and customer service, but not a bad piece of equipment.

It is a simple process all I can think is that square gets a percentage of royalties from their supported printer sales and thats why they are locking everything down to these ridiculously overpriced pieces of equipment.
Square is not interested in using anyone but Star. And their attitude is that they frankly don’t care. I know, I have emails from them about it. If I was to guess, I would bet they have a deal with Star that funds their (insert pizza parties, to silk pockets). But lets be realistic. I mean it has to be something viable, right? The fact that Star uses the same print protocals that Epson uses has no bearing on an Epson receipt printer not working. It goes in the same line as Android devices can’t use bluetooth devices… although that new chip reader is bluetooth. It is a lack of customer service and they need to step up to the plate, or someone is going to come along and take their business away from them.

Bluetooth printing was a great project — it brought many unique engineering challenges and taught me a lot about how Square’s code base works. I’ve always been taught to use inheritance when possible to organize and share code, but working with the peripheral class hierarchy was a strong reminder of just how valuable a good, well-organized, object-oriented architecture can be. There was a lot of shared code between WiFi and Bluetooth printers that I could have copied and pasted, but I’m glad that I took the time to not just make it work, but to do it right. I’m thankful that my co-workers pushed me to take the time to experiment with different abstractions of concurrency. Not only is my code better, but I now know many ways to approach the problem. In software, there’s rarely just one solution, and this is a good reminder to explore every possibility before choosing one — because it was the first idea that seemed to work.
This printer is terrible. It always has connectivity issues and it is constantly jamming. Worst mistake i made for my business. We have to keep it off until we get a customer otherwise it keeps printing no host receipts and it jams. Called star micronics they said it was probably an issue on my end. WRONG! MY other register, which is hooked up by same switch board, has an Epson printer and it gives no issues. Do not buy this printer for your business. Go with an Epson. Same amount of $, no problems.

This printer comes with a disk. If you are using it with an Ipad, the disk is useless. The only thing I am disappointed with at this point is that I can not print by business logo on my receipts. This is not a downfall of the printer but the program that I am using. This printer prints the business logo ‘”IF” you are using a Mac or Windows based POS system.

Printing requires an application and/or driver designed for this printer. In the case of Windows the Epson Windows printer driver provides the communication link to the TM-P60 printer. It is not possible to test or use the printer without first installing the driver.
Loving it so far. I didn’t know I could even print text documents and images (in low-medium quality monochrome, mind you) right from my computer’s regular programs without special receipt software, after installing the driver of course. All you have to do is figure out the page size and margins and such, available in the manual and online. Some programs like Excel are a little tricky. This makes it easy to print bits of information clearly without wasting a lot of paper. It’s not fussy like a lot of regular printers. I just unplug it from one place and plug it into the other, wait a few seconds to hear the paper adjusting sound and the computer to recognize it, and print.

I have a friend who runs a small shop and knew the Esky ES-CD01 Heavy Duty RJ-12 Key-Lock Cash Drawer would be perfect for his application. This drawer was a massive upgrade to the system he had been using. He had tried other drawers with different connections and designs, however this one was really the best.
The Ethernet printers compatible with Square Point of Sale are thermal printers. They require heat-sensitive paper and won’t work with non-thermal receipt paper. These types of printers aren’t ideal for kitchens or high-temperature working areas.
A printer-driven cash drawer must be connected to an receipt printer to open automatically. Otherwise you’ll need to manually open the drawer using the cash drawer key. A USB cash drawer (requires Square Stand) will open automatically when connected.
Implementing Bluetooth printing introduced new limitations in parallel processing and communication that required me to rethink how we manage concurrency in our printing system. If you’re familiar with multi-threaded code, you probably already realize that expensive operations, such as peripheral communication, downloading and uploading, and heavy computation, are best run asynchronously off the main UI thread. In our code for WiFi printing, this is done using the most basic functionality of Grand Central Dispatch (GCD), one of Apple’s built-in mechanisms for managing concurrent tasks. For more detailed info about GCD, read Apple’s documentation . Each print operation and printer discovery operation is added to a global concurrent queue that runs the code on a private thread, abstracting away the mechanics of threading. The result of this is that the different operations are allowed to run in parallel with no restraints and no control.

Square Point of Sale on an iPad is compatible with a wide variety of third-party hardware accessories. Below, you’ll find a list of supported accessories, where to purchase them, and information on getting set up.
In the 1400s, the German blacksmith Johannes Gutenberg created mechanical movable type printing, which many say inspired the Printing Revolution and, as a result, the Age of Enlightenment since information could finally be spread far and wide on paper. One of the most famous products to come of Gutenberg’s printing press was a version of the bible. After that, Gutenberg began printing receipt books that businesses could purchase and use to keep track of exchanges with their customers.

To create your own bar codes and labels, you’ll need to use a third-party application. At the moment, we don’t support bar code and label printers and can’t guarantee compatibility, but many customers have success using the DYMO Label Writer 450 and labels with Square.
If you have a Square Stand, in addition to the printers above, you can use certain USB interface receipt printers. The following receipt printers are only compatible with the Square Stand, not the Square card reader:
I have my own iPad 2 and square stand. I was Looking for compatible hardware and this was excellent. The register and printer work great, I even ordered more papers for the printer so we will use it long term.
First one we got was dead. Customer service is almost non-existent. Packaged it up and paid to ship back to repair center. Several weeks went by with no feedback, then received back the exact packaging with no note or anything to indicate what the issue was, or if it had even been fixed. It seems it has, but that process was a pain. Now it doesn’t like to stay visible on the network so we are always either re-booting or just telling people it’s broken. Turns out people don’t care all that much about paper receipts anyway. Recommend purchasing directly through Square if you really need it. At least then you might get some tech support.
Did you just purchase a Square Stand or have the Square Register app running on your Android, iPhone or Tablet and need a Receipt Printer or Cash Drawer Hardware Bundle? There are a few different models and options for you to choose from when selecting a Thermal or Impact Receipt Printer and we will go over these here. We will cover other popular POS apps like Shopify, Breadcrumb, Shopkeep, PayPal Here and Clover in upcoming articles.
Unless proven otherwise, I agree.  And in my business, giving a client a receipt on what amounts to a piece of adding machine paper is unprofessional.  I should be able to use any printer that is compatible with the iPad, not just the uni-tasker receipt printers.
The free Square Dashboard app works in sync with Square Point of Sale and lets you view your live sales data in seconds. You can access powerful analytics, and easy tools to help you track and improve your business.
With resistance to the most brutal environments, APG drawers feature sturdy steel frames powder coated in cloud white or black to resist scratches and other external abuse. Industrial grade steel ball bearing slides on the drawer won’t wear like silicon wheels and promote silky smooth opening and closing every time.
Please note, these printers can only be used with iOS devices at this time. I don’t have a timeline for when they’ll be supported with Android devices yet. But I’ll report back when I have an update! 😀

This is the price (excluding shipping and handling fees) a seller has provided at which the same item, or one that is nearly identical to it, is being offered for sale or has been offered for sale in the recent past. The price may be the seller’s own price elsewhere or another seller’s price. The “off” amount and percentage simply signifies the calculated difference between the seller-provided price for the item elsewhere and the seller’s price on eBay. If you have any questions related to the pricing and/or discount offered in a particular listing, please contact the seller for that listing.
Combined with its powerful futurePRNT Windows software, users can enhance their printed receipts to add graphics (logos and coupons), print multiple copies, or use the text processing function to replace printed information or trigger a coupon, and much, much more. The TSP100III can also be used with Star Micronics AllReceipts™ digital receipt app, allowing shoppers to manage their receipts digitally, and retailers to receive instant feedback on customer satisfaction.
Enhanced guillotine cutter completes the list of well thought out components with the usual Star central partial cut allowing all hanging receipts, kitchen order etc, to hang patiently in straight line.
Actual print speed is an impressive and efficient 300mm per second while multiple grey scale printing enables better representation of logos and graphic images. The TM-T88V works on several platforms, so it’s simple to integrate into your network and it also comes with in-built USB IF which means easy migration to USB in the future.

The Kitchen Buzzer connects directly the RJ11 port on the back of the printer. The buzzer sounds when a print job is sent to the TSP100. This is beneficial for high noise environments like kitchens to alert cooks that orders have been sent.
As a result of these efforts, Epson receipt printers have become a global standard. Sold throughout the world, the company’s miniprinters have been highly evaluated by customers with sales now surpassing 300 million units.

I think these are THE STANDARD of Credit card/chit printers in the retail industry. I have some of the TM-88 IV (predecessors to this model) still in use after 10+ years. As part of its efforts to maintain its market leadership, Epson has also developed its original ESC/Pos command language for receipt printers.
